At AFA, we're proud to be a strong corporate citizen, not because it's good business, but because it is the right thing to do. Each day, our Company and Colleagues look for ways to give back to the community. Whether it's through a monetary grant from the American Fidelity Foundation or a group of Colleagues supporting runners at a water stop for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, AFA finds ways to get involved.

In 2008, the AF Foundation donated more than $650,000 to organizations throughout the Oklahoma City area, with special emphasis on programs with an educational focus, including extending our partnership with Buchanan Elementary School.

AFA also partnered with the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Team to sponsor its Read to Achieve literacy program that includes visits to local schools and the Rolling Thunder, a bookmobile that will visit schools and public events offering free books to children.

Colleagues spent time working with World Neighbors, the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, the Regional Food Bank and several other organizations. They supported a dozen non-profit groups through monthly charity jeans day promotions that raised an average of about $800 for each organization. Nearly 300 Colleagues, family and friends joined the Race for the Cure, and many also participated in the American Heart Association's Heart Walk.

Whether it's donating cash or volunteering their time, American Fidelity Assurance and our Colleagues are always ready to lend a helping hand.
